As part of its commitment of ensuring a well- informed Christian academic community about the midterm elections in May 2019 and other election-related developments, Holy Cross of Davao College (HCDC) signified full support to Eleksyon 2019, GMA network’s advocacy program through a partnership. This is a way of aiding voters in exercising their right to vote.

On October 9, 2019, a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) was forged between HCDC through its acting president Dr. Iris A. Melliza and GMA, one of the country’s largest networks, to bring into the scene an in-depth and the most trusted multi-platform coverage of the upcoming polls.

This is the first time for said network to partner with the country’s top colleges and universities in furthering its advocacy. HCDC is the only partner-school of GMA in Region XI.

“It is timely to contemplate what role HCDC as an archdiocesan school should play in promoting participation in the political process”, Dr. Melliza, in an official statement said.

From this partnership emanated the launching of an HCDC-led advocacy program dubbed, “VOTE FOR TRUTH”, a series of talks and discussions pertaining to the elections.

“HCDC feels the need to be active in providing opportunities for its members to be engaged citizens”, Dr. Melliza added. (by Clodet Ann Loreto, MassComm Intern)
