Indeed, Holy Crossians are making great strides in their respective areas of specialization. In the field of media and communication, five of them who graduated from the AB Mass Communication program have proven themselves worthy of the Globe Media Excellence Awards (GMEA) 2017 and other citations – whether as a recipient or a nominee.
ABS-CBN Davao Reporter Jean Claire Cornelio (batch 2010) was named Reporter of the Year for Television for her entry “Tinikaran – Sunog sa Mount Apo”.
Social Media Specialist Ace June Rell Perez (batch 2015) got a Globe nomination for Best Explanatory Story and Reporter for Print with his entry: What it takes to be child-friendly. Earlier, Perez won Best News Story during the 11th Burgos Awards for Biotechnology Journalism.
Bigjay Lagang (batch 2014) made a “back to back to back “ victory ,having won the Public Affairs Story of the Year for Radio with his entry, Martial Law: Marcos Kaniadto, Duterte Karon in ; Reporter of the Year for Radio with his entry, HIV-AIDS Cases: Fast and Furious in 2016; and Reporter of the Year for Radio for his Lumad Education story which was also adjudged as Public Affairs Story of the Year for Radio in 2015.
Now GMA reporter Jandiane Esteban ( batch 2015) was among the finalists for Reporter of the Year for Radio, while Germaine Avancena-Arenas (batch 2010) of TV 5 was nominated Reporter of the Year for Television.
