HCDC-IDS Joins 13th NHCP-LHCN General Assembly and National Conference on Local History in Laguna

On August 25-27, 2026, the Institute of Davao Studies (IDS) of the Holy Cross of Davao College (HCDC) participated in the National Historical Commission of the Philippines – Local Historical Committees Network (NHCP-LHCN) 13th General Assembly and 2026 National Conference on Local History and Heritage, held at the Sentrong Pangkultura ng Biñan in Biñan, Laguna.

The gathering kicked off with the General Assembly (August 25) featuring the 2025 accomplishments in heritage preservation and education presented by the different historical and cultural representatives from across the country, including HCDC-IDS initiated activities led by Mr. Rhys Lloyd Lacia, Coordinator. Attendees at the national conference (August 26-27) engaged in deep-dive discussions exploring both historical and contemporary narratives of the Philippine diaspora, examining the varied impacts of migration in the different region.

As HCDC-IDS approaches its 4th year as an active member of the NHCP-LHCN, the institute vows its unwavering commitment to the long-term agenda of enriching the national historical narrative through comprehensive education and localized research projects, inline with Dekada ng Kasaysayan.

For its immediate upcoming initiatives, HCDC-IDS will actively answer the call to highlight women in history, specifically focusing on documenting, studying, and elevating the vital contributions of women in the history of Davao.
