The Holy Cross of Davao College (HCDC) was recognized during the Duty Bearer’s Night of the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Regional Office XI for its sustained contribution to the Regional Migration Network XI (RMN), particularly for advancing programs and services supporting Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and their families through campus-based initiatives. The event was held last December 5, 2025 at the T’nalak Hall of Seda Hotel.
The award was presented by Regional Director Maria Carolina B. Agdamag and Labor Attaché II / OIC–Assistant Regional Director Marie Grace C. Escalada, PhD, and was received by HCDC’s Guidance Associate, Ms. Mari Jan Ivy H. Mosqueda, and Guidance Counselor, Ms. Mary Kris C. Opinion.
Director Agdamag highlighted the shared commitment of institutions and partners in the migration sector, reminding everyone that: “As duty bearers, we are called to set higher standards of protection, build ecosystems that outlast us, and ensure that every OFW, whether leaving or returning, feels the full strength of a region that stands behind them.”
The recognition highlights HCDC’s sustained commitment—through the Center for Linkages, Internationalization and Language Studies (Link-In & LS) and the Office of Guidance and Counseling (OGC)—to the DMW’s Anti-Illegal Recruitment and Trafficking-in-Persons (AIRTIP) Campaign.
Since HCDC and DMW–XI formalized their partnership in 2023, faculty, staff, and students have engaged in a wide range of capacity-building and awareness activities that directly support several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (#SDGs), particularly SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions), and SDG 17 (Partnership for the Goals). These collective efforts underscore the essential role of academic institutions in promoting safe migration, safeguarding vulnerable communities, and equipping future professionals for opportunities abroad.
