For the first time in its history, the Holy Cross of Davao College will compete in the upcoming Philippine Culinary Cup (PCC) 2022, which is slated for August 3-6, 2022 at the Mall of Asia (MOA) SMX Convention Center in Manila.

HCDC will be sending five students coming from the Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management (BSHM) who will participate in the different categories, including Filipino Cuisine and Fantasy Dessert.

The HCDC-BSHM will have two entries for the Filipino Cuisine Category to be represented by Frederick Antoniano, Edrian Fabiania, Ivan Russel Masaudling, and Albert Gempesaw.

Meanwhile, Tresha Mae Urbano will compete in the Fantasy Dessert Category.

Chef Raymond A. Miñoza, a Faculty Member from the College of Hospitality and Tourism Management Education (CHaTME), said that the competition entails physical and mental preparations.

“Two months sila nag-prepare, one month for physical and mental exercise and then one month for cooking training. So usually, most of their preparation is they need to familiarize all the equipment, they need to master the recipes and the sequence of the competition,” Chef Miñoza, also their Head Coach, said.

The preparation and training of the students were conducted by Coach Miñoza together with their two faculty members, Mr. Denzen Palanas and Ms. Cindy Jaromay. The whole delegation is headed by their Program Chairperson, Ms. Ginalyn Yretarino.

The Philippine Culinary Cup has become the country’s most prominent culinary competition for years now. The PCC plays an even more significant role in offering a globally recognized platform for Filipino chefs to refine their abilities and display their talents in the culinary world. (Christian Dave D.
