The Holy Cross of Davao College has achieved another milestone in the internationalization of higher education as the Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management Program received formal recognition from the Central Office for Foreign Education (ZAB) in Germany. ZAB is the central authority that evaluates foreign qualifications in Germany. It manages the Anabin, the database for higher education equivalence and professional qualifications.
According to the ZAB’s official website https://www.kmk.org/…/central-office…/about-the-zab.html, “the ZAB provides information and consultation for public authorities, education institutions, and individuals. It prepares expert assessments and issues statements on comparability and foreign vocational qualifications. ZAB employees have a combined knowledge of 55 languages and expertise in the education systems of over 195 countries worldwide. The ZAB is part of the ENIC-NARIC network. In this network, the national information centers for the academic recognition of educational qualifications from 56 countries work together. Their goals include providing information about the education and training systems of the member states, supporting each other in the assessment of foreign qualifications, and creating a uniform European approach to recognition in higher education.”
The ZAB’s recognition of HCDC’s BS in Hospitality Management is groundbreaking, as Philippine bachelor’s degrees are typically not regarded as equivalent to German undergraduate degrees. This development is even more notable because recognition in Germany’s hospitality sector usually goes through the IHK FOSA (Foreign Skills Approval Body), making HCDC’s achievement a unique success.
This achievement is made possible through the help and support of HCDC’s partner institutions in Germany, Anhalt University, and DCG. Through its internationalization efforts, HCDC aims to secure similar recognition for other academic programs, reinforcing its commitment to providing world-class quality education.
