To intensify the academic and research activities of the Holy Cross of Davao College, the Center for Research through the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs and the Center for Linkages, Internationalization and Language Studies, conducted a 2-day research writing workshop last July 4-6, 2022 at the 7th Floor, HCDC Function Hall.

The research workshop entitled ‘Demystifying the Concept of Research Proposal Writing’ aimed at enhancing the research writing capabilities of the teachers as well as the non-teaching employees.

A total of 65 HCDC teaching and non-teaching personnel participated onsite by drafting and presenting their respective research proposals.

The workshop was conducted by Dr. Francisco Perlas Dumanig, an Assistant Professor of English at the University of Hawai’i at Hilo, Hawai’i, USA. He also used to be a Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Languages and Linguistics, University of Malaya in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and other universities in the Philippines, Malaysia, Middle East, and the USA.

According to Aries Gan, the Head of Center for Research, the activity is crucial since developing research capabilities is one of the primary goals of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs).

He said the Center for Research is planning more research workshop activities to engage the faculty, employees, and students into academic writing through research.

He added that they were jubilant to conduct the activity onsite after the local government eased COVID-19 restrictions.

Earlier this year, the Holy Cross of Davao College signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the University of Hawai’i at Hilo to strengthen academic exchange through a virtual ceremony last April 11.  (MKO)
