Making a breakthrough in educational quality, the Holy Cross of Davao College secured its ISO 21001:2018 certification last February 06, 2024.

“ISO 21001:2018 is an Educational Organizations Management  System. It means a system specific to schools or academic institutions.,” Dr. Jean A. Legaspi, Head of HCDC Institutional Quality Assurance Office (IQAO) said.

For more than two decades, HCDC was certified ISO 9001:2015. As a school offering Maritime Education, it was a requirement. However, with the institution’s direction of providing quality education, HCDC works to cover the entire institution for its certification. Thus, all the members of the school community were given orientation, training, and document preparation for 21001:2018 to ensure the quality of service and system of HCDC.

Stage 1 Audit was commended last November 16, 2023, while Stage 2 Audit was last December 5-7, 2023. Relevant areas of the organization were visited and employees were asked about their activities and the management system on a random sample basis to gain an impression of employee awareness. Planning and implementation of the internal audit and the management system reviews were checked using the available documented information. The audit team was convinced that the scheduled provisions were adequate and fulfilled, thus recommended to grant ISO 21001 to HCDC.

On February 6, 2024, HCDC received the E-Certificate from TUV Nord Philippines indicating that HCDC applies a management system in line with the 21001:2018 standard for the scope: Provisions of Higher Education, Graduate Studies, and Maritime Education and Training Services for the Domestic and International Shipping Industry.

Anticipating with enthusiasm, the official certificate will be awarded on March 25, 2024 at the Holy Cross of Davao College Sedes Sapientiae Auditorium to be received by HCDC President Br. Noelvic H. Deloria, S.C. and members of the President’s Council. The said awarding ceremony will be in time for the Opening of the Servant Leaders Forum. (Abigail Sula, BA Comm Intern)
