The Bachelor of Arts in Communication (BA Comm) of the Holy Cross of Davao College participated in this year’s photo exhibit in celebration of the World Press Freedom Day 2023.

With the theme “How We Cover News”, schools offering communication courses and local media organizations honor the importance of press freedom and the crucial role of verification and fact-checking in journalism in presenting the truth amid all the misinformation and disinformation that is rampant today.

As one of the top producers of notable journalists in the Davao Region, HCDC BA Comm showcased their experiences in covering news and topical issues with truthfulness and unwavering commitment.

The activity is a call to action for all those who believe in the power of the free press to hold those in power accountable – standing up against censorship and disinformation.

The exhibit was organized by the Asian Center of Journalism at the Ateneo de Manila University, Mindanao Times, and SM City Davao in partnership with various higher education institutions, including Holy Cross of Davao College. The photo exhibit is open from May 6 to 12, 2023, at the 2F, SM City Davao Annex, Ecoland.

The HCDC BA Comm is committed to empowering journalism in disseminating information that is truthful, accurate and relevant. (Nico Montecillo & Jhun Marwel Manzano, BA Comm Interns)
