The Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management (BSHM) of the College of Hospitality and Tourism Management Education (CHaTME) has been granted accreditation by the Philippine Accrediting Association of Schools, Colleges and Universities (PAASCU) after a grueling process.

The BSHM is granted three years accreditation that pushes the program to embrace changes given the situation these days in developing strategies that will hone the soft-skills of its students and to continuously provide quality education for the years to come.

“Sa 2025, bibisita na naman sila at i-checheck kung pang level two ka na, mas mataas na. That’s why we need to focus on the soft-skills of our students,” (On 2025, they will visit again to check if we are ready to level up. That’s why we need to focus on the soft-skills of our students) BSHM/BSTM Program Head Ginalyn Yretarino said.

She also said that upon submitting the program for accreditation, they find the need to focus on prioritizing what is offered by the program to know and identify what would be the career that their students want and where they should be placed after that will help the faculty and staff identify the areas they should improve on.

“Dito ma-aidentify ang SWOT natin, ano ba yung strength ni program, ano ba yung weakness niya, ano ba yung kanyang opportunities and the threats. Once you conduct accreditation lahat yan machecheck, ma-aayos,” (The SWOT can be identified here. What would be the strength of the program, what are its weaknesses, what are the opportunities, and threats. Once you conduct accreditation, all of it will be checked and solved) she added.

The accreditation process has also served as a medium to give balance and equal attention and effort to each course to hit the desired targets of the program. (Chriscelyn Jane Gabalunos, BA Comm Intern)
