BACHELOR OF SECONDARY EDUCATION MAJOR IN ENGLISH

 The Bachelor of Secondary Education major in English (BSEd – ENG) is a four-year program designed to give students with training for teaching English in both elementary and secondary school settings, and to prepare them to become competent English teachers upon graduation. This program will assist students in broadening their language and literature knowledge for successful learning, as well as encouraging them to utilize English as a glocal language in a multilingual society. Furthermore, this program will assist students in demonstrating skill in both oral and writing communication.

RETENTION POLICY

  1. A student is retained in the program if he/she has maintained a grade of at 

least 80% in all his/her major and professional subjects.

. 1.2 A waiver form signed by their parents shall be given to students on the following conditions:

  • He or she has a grade below 80% on his or her major and professional subjects.
  • He or she has a failing grade in any general education subjects or any subjects other than the major and professional subjects. 
  • Students are only allowed to receive two (2) waiver forms. 
  • A third waiver will not be given to the student as he or she will be considered out of the program. 
  • One (1) waiver shall be given to a student per semester regardless of the frequency or number of conditions that he/she has met.
  • The Admission and Retention Policy shall be applicable to all students (1st – 4th year) enrolled in the School of Teacher Education of this institution.

  1.3 The following sanctions will be observed for his retention for the program;

1.4 This include unofficially dropped subject. Unofficially dropping means a student was dropped because he already exceeded the allowable number of absences.

1.5 These guidelines on retention shall be implemented to STE incoming freshmen and transferees effective SY   2018 – 2019 Furthermore, these guidelines will be applied to all first-year to Fourth-year students.
