For the first time in its history, the Holy Cross of Davao College held commencement exercises for the college and graduate school departments via live streaming online without sacrificing safety of its graduating students and staff amid COVID-19 pandemic.

The institution held its virtual graduation on Saturday, July 31, which was participated by 782 candidates for graduation, led by five cum laude graduates from the different programs.

While not physically in attendance, the graduates participated online all clad in togas.

The only ones present were school administrators and program chairpersons from different programs, all wearing masks and keeping a safe distance from one another.

As part of the tradition, a baccalaureate mass was also conducted online on the same day presided by Davao Archbishop Romulo G. Valles, D.D.

The eucharistic celebration carried the theme “Gifted to Give,” calling on its graduates to serve the community with honesty, dedication and care for others.

The Holy Cross of Davao has been part of that giftedness of faith. The Holy Cross of Davao College as a mission, is a gift to be shared,” Archbishop Valles said.

Apb. Valles, who is also the Chairman of the Board, added that the mission of the institution basically, is to lead young minds and young hearts to encounter in faith with the Lord.

Through the college we encounter more deepened, sharpened faith centered on Jesus,” he said while reminding everyone to not forget the Lord in everyone’s jubilee.

Meanwhile, Marissa Cobol, a cum laude graduate of Bachelor of Elementary Education, delivered her address of thanks.

In her address, Cobol emphasized the importance of taking action and being resilient amid difficult times.

I believed that we were able to unleash our strengths and discover our weaknesses that needed attention and improvements,” Cobol said.

She also stressed to the graduates the importance of taking time and recognizing the efforts of their loved ones who helped them in their academic journey.

Let us continue to enjoy the ride, take our time and value those individuals who bring the best in us,” she said.
