PHGS-HCDC Kindergarten School Mission Statement
The Prof. Hermann Gmeiner School, Holy Cross of Davao College (PHGS-HCDC) is a catholic school offering kindergarten education aimed at the holistic and integrated development of the preschool child in his/her transition years from the home to the school with emphasis on the foundation of the moral and spiritual development of the Filipino child.

PHGS-HCDC kindergarten school believes in the uniqueness of each child as he/she goes through growth and development considering his/her innate goodness, curiosity and impressive ability to learn.

Therefore, to enhance and maximize the child's development in preschool, PHGS-HCDC kindergarten school provides a curriculum to prepare the child to adjust and cope with life situation and demands of formal schooling.

To this end, PHGS-HCDC kindergarten school will provide the following: the integration of faith and value formation in the curriculum and the witnessing of Christian life among the members of the school community, a safe and stimulating environment for a happy and respectful child interacting with others and the environment; and the close and harmonious partnership between the home, the school and other institutions.

Kindergarten General Goals and Objectives


1. To provide developmentally appropriate programs that will help the child in his/her personal development and relations with others and with God;

2. To maximize the child's fullest potential through a variety of meaningful learning experiences and opportunities with consideration of the child's interests and capabilities;

3. To create and maintain a safe and healthy setting that fosters the child's social, emotional, intellectual, moral/spiritual and physical development and that respects the child's dignity and contribution;

4. To encourage the child to be self-reliant and to be thinking individual, capable of making decisions and of responding to the changing time;

5. To foster the child's independence and a positive attitude towards learning; and

6. To develop a concern for the environment, the community, the society, the future, and the welfare of others.

Objectives of Elementary Education

 

  • To provide the child's basic knowledge and develop the foundation skills, attitudes and values including his/her moral and spiritual dimension essential to his/her personal development and necessary for living in contributing to a developing and changing social milieu.

  • To provide learning experiences which increases the child's awareness of and responsiveness to changes in society and to prepare him/her for constructively effective involvement.

  • To promote and intensify the child's knowledge of, identification with and love of the nation and the people to which he/she belongs.

  • To promote work experience which develops and enhances the child' orientation to the world and creativity in order to prepare him/her to engage in honest and gainful work.

 

Objectives of Elementary Department
General Objectives:
  1. To enhance the range and quality of individual and group participation in the basic function of society founded in spiritual and moral values.
  2. To acquire the essential educational foundation for his/her development into productive and versatile citizen.

Specific Objectives:

A graduate of PHGS-HCDC is expected to be :

1. Intelligent

  • interprets information
  • creative, truth seeker, critical and logical thinker
  • has the "virtues of intellect" such as humility, honesty, objectivity, accuracy, clarity, logic and concentration
  • shows interest in intellectual creation
  • has the thirst for knowledge

2. Spiritually Mature

  • lives in faith by applying it to his/her own conduct
  • acts according to Christian principles (love, service and and commitment)
  • involved in school, parish and community activities
  • seeks the need for divine help through prayers and sacraments
  • finds inspiration in Christ, in Mary, saints and in other people who have committed themselves to Christ

3. Healthy

  • respect the body as partner of a person's immortal soul and keeps it physically fit

4. Vocationally prepared and economically self-sufficient

  • develops love of family life
  • develops love of work
  • contributes productively to the economic sufficiency of the family and community

5. Social - Minded

  • aware of the social conditions and problems in his/her own community and country
  • respects the rights of the other people and opposes any form of human rights violation
  • develop the sense of responsibility toward his/her family, school, community and country.

6. Filipino

  • has a deep sense of nationalism, and patriotism
  • loves, support and defends his/her country
Admission Policy and Requirements

1. Passed the oral and written examinations conducted by the Guidance & Testing Center.

2. Interview of parents and pupils.

3. Submission of the following documents to the Registrar's Office:

  • Kindergarten Report Card or Certificate for Grade 1
  • Report Card or Form 138-B for Transferees
  • A Photocopy of Birth Certificate (original copy to be presented for validation)
    Exam result
  • Certificate of Good Moral Character signed by the Principal/Directress for Grade IV, V and VI
  • 6 pieces 1 x 1 pictures (2 copies for the Registrar's Office, 2 copies for the Guidance Counselor's Office and 2 copies or the ID and Borrower's Card)

4. Must be five(5) years old on the first day of classes for Kindergarten

5. Must be 6 years old on the first day of classes for Grade 1

6. For non-Catholics, parents and pupils should be interviewed by the Campus Ministry personnel before the pupils could take the entrance examination.

 
Enrollment Procedures
1. NEW PUPILS - They should get an admission slip from the Admission Committee, present it to the Cashier and pay the fees required for enrollment.

2. OLD PUPILS - They should present their report card (Form 138-B) to the Cashier and pay the fees required for enrollment.

3. Accomplish the Official Registration Form (ORF)

4. Proceed to the Parents-Teachers Fellowship Office for payment of membership fee and other fees.

5. See the following for interviews and signature:

- Guidance Counselor
- Campus Ministry
- Prefect of Discipline
- Registrar
- Principal

Discounts
1. Five (5%) percent discount for full payment of tuition fee during enrolment period only.

2. FAMILY DISCOUNT - either in the elementary or high school, the youngest child gets the discount on tuition fee only.

3 children - 25 % discount on tuition fee
4 children - 50% discount on tuition fee
5 children - 75% discount on tuition fee
6 children - 100 % discount on tuition fee
7 children - 50% discount on tuition fee

Refund of Fees and Withdrawals
Refund of Fees

If the pupil drops before the 10th day of the month, he/she will be refunded for the month's tuition fee.

Withdrawals

A pupils should notify his/her class adviser and principal of the plan to leave the school or transfer, accomplish a clearance slip then obtain eligibility.
