ADMISSION POLICY
The Holy Cross of Davao College Inc. opens its doors to any applicant who has the desire, qualifications and the capacity for college work regardless of creed, belief. religion, sex, economic status, political learnings or social strata.

Once the applicant enrollee becomes a bona fide student of this institution, he/she is regularly evaluated on the basis of the academic performance and the behavior as a student. It is also for this reason that all incoming freshmen, transferees and returnees are placed under probation upon enrollment.

Enrollment in the Holy Cross of Davao College, Inc. is a contractual relationship between the student and the College.

The contract between the College and the student enrolled for the semester is for the entire semester only and not for the entire course. Moreover, when a student commits a serious breach of discipline or fails to maintain the required academic standard, he/she forfeits his/her contractual right and the College has no legal obligation to re-admit him/her.

The student having been admitted to the College and having paid the tuition fees, agrees to abide by the rules and regulations of the School. Failure on his part in this respect empowers the college to impose sanctions in accordance to the MANUAL OF REGULATIONS FOR PRIVATE SCHOOLS, 7th Edition, 1970. On her part, the College agrees that, after the student has successfully satisfied his prescribed course of study and has complied, during his residence, with the rules and regulations of the College, she shall confer upon him the title or degree in the form of a certificate or diploma.

It is the purpose of the College to prepare her students for special distinction in the profession they choose. To this end, she requires candidates seeking admission, to provide satisfactorily evidence of their fitness for college work determined largely by scholastic records, CSAT result, HCDC college entrance test result and an evidence of good moral character.

The College accepts three (3) distinct types of qualified students as regular students, auditors and special students. Applicant to any of these three types of qualified students should be filed within the enrollment period prescribed by the College each semester and/or summer.

The College reserves the right to refuse admission or re-admission to any student, if in her judgment, such student cannot abide with the rules and regulations of the school, cannot keep up with ideals of studentship and morality that the College stands for.

RULES FOR ENROLLMENT
The enrollment shall be conducted during the registration days indicated on the school calendar and no enrollment is allowed two weeks after the start of classes. A student is considered officially enrolled if she/he has submitted the required admission credentials, has made an initial payment to the school, and has been authorized to attend classes. No foreign student shall be enrolled without the prior approval from the Department of Foreign Affairs, Bureau of Immigration and Deportation and CHED-Central Office, Manila.

REQUIREMENTS FOR ENROLEES

To be eligble for admission to the College, students must be graduates of secondary schools duly recognized by the government and must have taken the HCDC College Entrance test conducted by the College Guidance and Counseling Center.

FRESHMEN OR INCOMING FIRST YEAR COLLEGE STUDENTS AND TVET TRAINEES

  1. High School Report Card (Form 138)
  2. HCDC Entrance Test Result
  3. Certificate of Good Moral Character
  4. Photocopy of the Authenticated Birth Certificate (attach the original copy for validation)
  5. Four (4) copies of 1 1/2 x 1 1/2 ID pictures

Additional requirements for BSMT:

  • Ishihara Test Result
  • Audiometry Test Result

College Transferees

  1. Certificate of Transfer Credential (Honorable Dismissal)
  2. Transcript of Records for Evaluation
  3. HCDC Entrance Test Result
  4. Certificate of Good Moral Character
  5. Photocopy of the Authenticated Birth Certificate (attach the original copy for validation)
  6. Four (4) copies of 1 1/2 x 1 1/2 ID pictures

CROSS-ENROLLEES

OLD COLLEGE STUDENTS

Renewal of registration of old students to the college depends upon their previous performance. They must show fitness and disposition for college work and actual compliance with college rules and regulations. The students enrolled in the following courses must comply with minimum grade required in their respective courses and majors which are as follows:

BSC other majors - at least 75% in all major subjects

BSCA - at least 80% in major subjects
BSLIS - at least 80% in major subjects
BSMT - at least no failing grade in major subjects
BS Psychology - at least 80% in general psychology
BSSW - at least no failing grade in all subjects
Education - at least 80% in each enrolled subject
Engineering - at least 75% in all subjects
  1. Grades' list of the previous semester
  2. Students Account Clearance
  3. Current Identification Card
  4. Recommendation from the Department Chairperson concerned for students under probation the previous semester.

An old student MAY NOT BE ADMITTED to the College if he/she has dropped his/her ReEd subject, has been academically disqualified, has violated the rules and regulations of the College and has not submitted his transcript of record and/or Form 137 to the Office of the Registrar within one semester after having been admitted to the College.

AUDITOR STUDENTS

Persons who wish to attend certain courses but do not wish to partake in the class work may enroll as auditors. Auditors WILL NOT BE GIVEN ANY CREDIT for the courses they take although they will be required to pay the regular course fee upon approval of the registration by the Admission and Retention Committee.

 

RULES GOVERNING ENROLLMENT
The word ENROLLMENT does not refer to mere registration but the ACCEPTANCE of the students to regular classroom work at once.

Student should be enrolled only UNDER THEIR TRUE AND CORRECT NAMES. No name should be entered in the Enrollment List and in the F-XIX (Promotional Report) other than that appearing in the Birth Certificate, Admission Credentials, or Alien Certificate of registration (ACR) issued by the Bureau of Immigration in case of foreign students.

Request for change in or correction of name should be supported by a Birth Certificate (original copy), and/or photostatic copies of Alien Certificate of Registration (ACR), and the Immigration Certificate of Residence (ICR) and Certificate of Identity (CI) issued by the hospital containing thumbmarks and picture and affidavit of parents and another disinterested parties. In case of married women students, authentic copies of the marriage certificate should be submitted to the school for record purposes.

Enrollment in different courses and/or programs is by semester and/or by summer term. Once enrolled, a student is considered enrolled for the whole semester/term unless he is dropped or dismissed for cause.

Only those students who presented valid enrollment credentials before the end of the approved enrollment period should be included in the Enrollment List submitted to CHED-RO Office (pp. 81-82 MRPS, 7th Edition, 1970).

Credentials submitted for enrollment become part of the records and cannot be withdrawn after registration. They must be kept in their files at the Executive Registrar’s Office.

A student is considered enrolled only if he/she has submitted his/her enrollment credentials before the end of approved enrollment period and has duly started attending classes and has made payment of some kind or has made arrangement for such payment with the College.

Students are allowed only to attend the classes they are officially enrolled.

No student may enroll in advance subjects under penalty of losing credits in the same before he has taken and passed the corresponding prerequisite subjects of the preceding year or years (par. #154 of MRPS, 7th Edition, 1970).

No student is allowed to enroll in Holy Cross of Davao College, Inc. and in other institution during the same term unless enrollment has been approved by CHED-RO Office.

RIGHT TO ENROLL UNTIL GRADUATION
Admission to Holy Cross of Davao College is open to all who meet its standards, requirements and regulations as expressed in this school handbook, manuals and other written materials. However, admission or re-admission may be denied to a student in cases of academic deficiency, violation of school rules and regulations or closure of a program of study.

Due Process:

In resolving cases involving violations of school rules and regulations, which may result to suspension, or dismissal of students, the school official or committee assigned to handle disciplinary cases is required to observe due process always.

Procedural due process involves the following steps:

  1. The student must be informed in writing of the nature and cause of the accusation against him/her;
  2. The student shall have the right to answer the charges against him/her, with assistance of counsel, if desired;
  3. The student shall be informed of the evidences against him/her;
  4. The student shall have the right to adduce evidence in his/her own behalf;
  5. The evidence must be duly considered by the investigating committee or official designated by the school authorities to hear and decide the case.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Students to be eligible for admission to the College must be graduates of secondary schools duly recognized by the government, must have qualified the cut-off score of CSAT for Education and Accountancy and have passed the HCDC College Entrance Test conducted by the Guidance and Testing Center of the College which is required to all incoming freshmen seeking admission in the College.

Freshmen or Incoming First Year College Students
  • High School Report Card (From 138)
  • Certificate of good moral character
  • Photocopy of birth certificate (Authenticated by NSO)
  • Six (6) copies of 1.25" x 1.25" picture
  • HCDC college entrance test result.

College Transferees

  • Certificate of transfer (honorable dismissal)

  • Photocopy of birth certificate (Authenticated by NSO)
  • Six (6) copies of 1.25" x 1.25" picture

Cross-Enrollees

  • Study permit issued by the school where the student is regularly enrolled in.
  • Two (2) copies of 1.25" x 1.25" picture.

 

Old College Students

An old student MAY NOT BE ADMITTED to the College if he /she has dropped his / her ReEd subject, has been academically disqualified, has violated the rules and regulations of the College and his transcript of record and/or Form 137-A has not been received by the Office of the College Registrar within one semester after having been admitted to the College.

A student is ACADEMICALLY DISQUALIFIED if he / she fails to pass fifty percent (50%) of his / her registered units the previous semester. However, if he / she has passed at least seventy five percent (75%) of the total enrolled units, he / she may be re-admitted for enrollment and be placed on probation for one semester, upon recommendation of the Program Coordinator or Dean of College.

 

Special Students

Persons interested in course or programs not leading to a college degree may be admitted as special students. As such, they pay the regular course fee, attend classes and take part in the course or program which they are registered BUT RECEIVE NO CREDIT FOR THE WORK DONE. Their names and the course or program attended will not be officially entered in the Enrollment List and Promotional Report submitted to the CHED-RO Office every beginning and end of the semester. Ordinarily, their residence in the College is less than a year.

Upon application for registration, a special student must submit a Recommendation Letter from recognized authority like current employer, school administrator and/or parish priest and must execute a Waiver.

 

Auditor Students

Persons who wish to attend certain courses but do not wish to partake in the class work may enroll as auditors. Auditors WILL NOT BE GIVEN ANY CREDIT for the courses they take although they will be required to pay the regular course fee upon approval of the registration by the Admission and Retention Committee.

Like the special students, their names and the courses or program attended will not be officially entered in the Enrollment List and Promotional Report submitted to the CHED-RO Office every beginning and end of the semester.

Upon application for graduation, an auditor student must submit Recommendation Letter from recognized authority like current employer, school administrator and/or parish priest and must execute Waiver.

 

Foreign Students

Foreign students will be admitted upon presentation of their study permit issued by the Department of Foreign Affairs. Their placement will be determined by the evaluation result made by DECS if they just graduated High School and CHED if they have started college.

 

Students with Educational Benefits

Philippine Veterans and/or their qualified beneficiaries eligible for financial aid under R.A. No. 65 are eligible for admission upon presentation of their eligibility certificate issued by the Philippine Veterans Administration Office, provided they meet the admission requirements of this College.

U.S. Veterans and/or their qualified beneficiaries entitled to educational benefits under U.S. Servicemen’s Readjustment Act are eligible for admission upon presentation of their eligibility certificate from the local U.S. Veterans Administration Office, provided they meet the admission requirements of this College.
