HCDC PESO - operating for a year now

The Holy Cross of Davao College has established linkage with the Department of Labor and Employment Promotions Divisions
(DOLE-EPD). This linkage was formalized through the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement by Dr. Iris A. Melliza, the HCDC
President Romeo N. Cagas, the DOLE Assistant Regional Director at the HCDC gymnasium on September 11, 2004.

This is in pursuance to Republic Act No. 8759, which aims to institutionalize a national facilitation service network through the establishment of a Public Employment Service office (PESO) in every province, key city and other strategic areas throughout the country. Thus, the signing of Memorandum of Agreement has made HCDC-PESO substation.

by: MARICIELO       ESPERO

The HCDC-PESO subtation operates as part of the Career Guidance Program of the school's College Guidance and Counseling Center.

As a PESO substation, HCDC cooperates with DOLE by facilitating the employment of alumni and students of HCDC as well as those of other schools; establishing close linkages with private companies, schools, government agencies, and non-government organizations
in the attainment of the PESO objective; assisting in the promotion of self-employment projects; and supporting the anti-illegal recruitment campaign. The holding of the first HCDC Job Fair on January 28-30,2004 was an impressive start. There were 41 companies participating in the said fair. Through this activity, HCDC established and strengthened its linkages with the participating companies and agencies. Students and alumni from HCDC and other institutions availed of the services (DOLE, SSS, PHILHEALTH, DFA) and job opportunities that were made accessible during the 3-day Job fair.

Since then, HCDC-PESO has been performing career-guidance and employment-facilitation activities such as the following:

1.) Job Solicitation (updated on a weekly basis)
        2.) Career Enrichment Seminar
        3.) Career Guidance Seminar
        4.) Career Counseling
        5.) JOB Referral
6.) Giving assistance to DOLE - PESO initiated Job Fairs in Davao City
7.) Provision of venue and assistance in the implementation of the Integrated               Placement Assistance Program (IPAP) of DOLE
8.) Submission of Monthly Accomplishment Report to DOLE.
