After competing with different winning schools coming from Luzon and Visayas, the Holy Cross of Davao College from Mindanao took their rightful place as the Grand Champion in the first National Omegaling sa Kusina 2019 held at Trinoma Mall Activity Center, Quezon City Manila on October 13, 2019.

The team passed the elimination round in Davao City bagging the first place before proceeding to national competition.

Ang struggle namo before the competition kay ang time and kahago, isa lang ka day amoang practice kay gikan pa sad mi nagcompete ato sa Davao Culinary Cup which is kita gihapon ang nag overall champion,’’ (The struggles we experienced before the competition were time and exhaustion, we only practiced for a day because we just competed in the Davao Culinary Cup in which we won as the overall champion) Albert Gempesaw, member of the team said.

The competing teams from different schools tasked to cook a specific platter and HCDC Team’s egg wrap malunggay pancit with pomelo salsa and sweet potato scallops and ube coffee latte topped the rest of the entrees.

The secret of our success, nagpractice mi, nag internalize, brainstorming and most of all praying together as a team,” (The secret of our success — practicing, internalizing, brainstorming and most of all praying together as a team) said Rommel Edillo, one of the participants.

The team was composed of Francis Ceniza, Rommel Edillo, Albert Gempesaw and Shiela Buhia, all are students from the College of Hospitality and Tourism Management Education (CHaTME) and mentored by Chef Raymond Miñoza. (Chriscelyn B. Gabalunos, CrossTV Student Volunteer)
