Families, friends and the Holy Cross of Davao College community have gathered to celebrate the success of 878 graduates from both the graduate and undergraduate programs of the school during the 31st Midyear Commencement Exercises, November 10 at the HCDC Gymnasium.

Twenty-eight (28) graduates come from the graduate programs while 850 from the undergraduate programs.

Following the tradition, graduates were accompanied by their parents during the traditional processional march.

Archbishop Romulo G. Valles, D.D., the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Holy Cross of Davao College, who also presided the Eucharistic celebration of the said event, in his homily, associated the graduates to Christ and to the people who supported the graduates through their whole journey to Mother Mary.

Each student is a young Jesus, each lady is a young daughter of God and we are like Mary; caring, loving, inspiring, guiding all the students that come through the halls of our Alma Mater,” Abp. Valles said.

He also reminded the graduates to carry their crosses joyfully and never to take a shortcut as they go through with life’s intricacies. In the end, Abp. Valles challenged them to be contented with whatever they have.

With what little that you have or in abundance that you have, you make use of it, because the measure given to us should not be compared to what you see in others.” he said.

Meanwhile, Acting President, Ma. Iris A. Melliza, EdD. In her message to the graduates, acknowledged the fact that everything now can be done instantly – “you can eat, shop and communicate with a single click of our fingers”. She called this, “instant phenomenon”.

If we want to live a quality life, we cannot do it instantly. We are made to discern, and I hope that your time here in Holy Cross have given you chances to discern.” Dr. Melliza said. (Dyanne Theriz C. Palle / CrossTV Volunteer)
